Arrows
The arrows code is almost done, thanks to Schmurk who contributed with a lot of code (about 70% of the client and server missiles code is done by him).
I am almost done with my part of the code, and in a week or two we should be able to have a complete test on the test server.
So far, I am very excited about the whole misisles thing, it's been something I always wanted to have but never got the time or knowledge.
The misisles will server quite a few purposes:
1. Make combat more strategic.
2. Give people of different trades new items to make.
3. Moneysink. There will be two kind of arrows: Training arrows, which will be buyable form an NPC only, and will cost 10gc a piece, and the 'PK' arrows, which will be made by players, and will cost more (will also be more powerful and accurate). Of course, you will be able to PK witht rainign arrows, or train with PK arrows, but doing so might not be a very good idea.

Maybe you could make a larger testers-groups, so you would not have problems with wrong installed updates, and the testing would be faster.
Yes, I was thinking of exactly that.
Make a group of hand picked players that have outstanding technical skills (programming experience would be very well desired, but not required).
Usually, whenever doing a public test with everyone, things go bad (players won't do what they are told, ask questions that were already answered, beg for free stuff, etc.)
Are you planning the archery items be made under the archery skill, or under manufacturing?
They will be manufacturable under engineering (bows) and crafting (arrows).
What will the archery xp depend on? Just a/d of monsters or size/distance of target (maybe light condition, quality of the bow too)?
What about the fighting/use of them? WIll it contribute to/benefit from att/def skills? Or rather, just attack?
Tne archery exp will depend on the distance (if the shot was successful only). The rationality will also provide some additional exp.

Are bows/arrows the only missiles planned for the game. Archery is great but what about slings and rocks, blow pipes and darts, javalins etc...
Maybe not immediatly but just wondered if planned so maybe there shouldn't be an "archery" skill but missiles?

Not at all.
Right now we will only have bows and crossbows, but we do plan to have throwing spears, rocks, and even holly hand grenades :)
But not this update.
I would assume that ranged spells would also be something we'll see in the future? (fireball, lightning bolt, etc)
Couldn't there also be some kind of "hunting arrows"? The main idea would basically be: Damages player like training arrow, monster like pk arrow, price somewhere between.
We could, but there would be no point in it (too expensive).
I just wondered what would happen to archers who would be in non multi combat maps... Will they be able to attack creatures that are already attacked by lets say Sword fighters? :)
